Originally a Mobil Oil commission agency, the firm became known as Redwood Oil Company in 1978. In 2004, Redwood Oil divided into 2 companies. Redwood Oil remained the retail division, and born, was Redwood Coast Petroleum (RCP) the wholesale division. In 2008, Robert (Bob) Barbieri, one of the original owners of Redwood Oil Company, sold RCP to Poma Holding Company. Redwood Coast Petroleum became the 5th business within the Poma family of companies.
